2. Welcome to New Schools:
Wyvil Primary were welcomed back to L&SPSF after their absence last season. Michael will be taking the girls 7v7 side and Atticus the 9v9 team with Izzy as back up.
St Johns Angel Town have also indicated they are keen to take part in our 9v9 competition. Lenesha Williams, acting Assistant headteacher has been sent details of our activities and it is hoped they will join us for the 2024/25 season. It was also noted that Dulwich Hamlet and Phoenix primaries of Southwark had expressed interest in joining the League but have not followed up their initial enquiries and were not in attendance at the AGM.
3. Election of Officers:
Previous Chair and Treasurer elected unopposed. Kieron of Rosendale elected as new Secretary unopposed.
4. 2023 Minutes:
Mark went through his notes. Two notable features were:
a) the decision to keep the fees at £35 per match (9v9) and £25 (7v7)
b) Mark reminded those present that coaches are responsible for the welfare of the players and provision should be made to keep their belongings dry in wet weather and to ensure substitutes are warm when they are not playing in the match.
5. Review of 2023/24:
Particularly wet weather resulted in Girls’ fixtures not being completed and very little 9v9 or 7v7 football being played in February and March.
Belham won the A league in their first season in L&SPSF. The B league was won by Hatcham in their second season. The C league champions were Paxton, in their first season for a long time and they also reached the final of the Magazine losing narrowly to one of our regularly strong teams Rosendale who also finished as runners up in the A Division.
The Girls A Division was won by Hatcham giving Wayne a double Championship of 9v9 and 7v7 league winners. The Girls B Division champions were Judith Kerr led by the longstanding coach Amanda Pitt.
At the request of Rhydian of Henry Cavendish which was supported by the meeting there will be a Girls’ Cup competition in the 24/25 season and 7v7 Fair Play awards.
6. ActiveEdge:
The meeting approved the involvement of ActiveEdge in the running of the league, alongside Gary and the league officers. Kieron is the owner/manager of ActiveEdge, an organisation that aims to provide a wide variety of opportunities for primary school children to become active and to engage in various sporting activities. Kieron outlined how he and his team could help in the current set-up and shared some ideas about further involvement in the future e.g. more community involvement, and with an eye to keeping L&SPSF up and running in the short and long term.
7. Finances and League Fees for 2024/25:
The meeting agreed that all schools should be charged £400 to register a 9-a-side team and £300 to register a 7-a-side team for the coming season. The two headteachers at the meeting stated that they would much prefer to know the cost to their schools at the beginning of the season to make budgeting easier. The meeting agreed and invoices for the coming season at the above rates will be sent out in the Autumn term. It was noted that a small number of schools have not settled their invoices for last season yet and Gary will be reminding these schools that payment must be made quickly.
8. Format of 9v9 and 7v7 Competitions:
This will depend on the number of participating schools, but it is hoped to have a similar format to last season with the addition of a cup competition and Fair Play awards for girls.
9. Law Changes:
The laws of the game (rules) as used by L&SPSF will be unchanged from last season. Kick-ins instead of throw-ins were considered to be a bad idea by all attendees and will not be introduced in our competitions.
10. Coaches Charter/Crowd Barriers/Competition Rules :
a) Copies of the Coaches’ Charter were distributed at the meeting; all other competing schools will receive a copy in due course.
b) At Rosendale Playing Fields Coaches are responsible for parents standing on the ‘raised bank’ side of the pitches and behind white line three metres back from the touch line where barrier tapes will be erected. At other venues players and coaches should be on opposite touchlines as appropriate to the venue.
c) Competition Rules. These set out the format of our competitions and the rules governing them and as such coaches should be aware of them. They are on the website www.lpsfl.com and will be circulated to all participating schools.
11. Fair Play:
For each game, referees will continue to give each team a score out of ten for every game for the level of sporting fair play shown by the players, coaches and parents. The team or teams in each league gaining the highest scores will be awarded a “Fair Play” trophy at the end of the season. It was pointed out that these awards are central to the ethos of L&SPSF and are not just consolation prizes for less talented teams. Last season this was highlighted by the fact that the A Division winners and runners up both finished the season with a perfect 100% fair play score for every game they played.
12. South London Schools under 11 Representative Team:
Steve Underwood, the Secretary of South London Schools FA, the District Team for Lambeth and Southwark, sent his apologies and the following statement, which Mark read to the meeting:
“Both the boys’ and girls’ teams had a successful season. The boys won the Crisp Shield, the premier competition for under 11 district teams in London. We did not win that competition until 2014. They also won the Redbridge Tournament. The managers of this team Shuhal Ahmed and Mo Sesay deserve a lot of credit for such a wonderful achievement.
The girls team were Inner London Champions for the second time in 3 seasons! They also made the quarter finals of the SE England and National Trophies. In those matches they lost to West Kent the winners of both competitions. The manager Benji Ackem deserves a lot of praise for these achievements.
We wish to thank all the primary schools in the league that supported these two teams and would ask them to continue to do so into this season.”
13. AOB:
a) The meeting agreed that Gary should take a firmer line on enforcing the Tuesday lunchtime deadline, after which, except in excetional circumstances, requests for postponements will lead to the game being conceded by the team withdrawing after the cut off.
b) Gary will attempt to give a list of fixtures two or three weeks in advance and will continue to e-mail schools with fixtures a week in advance.
c) Schools should let Gary know school test dates and school journey dates and any other Saturdays to avoid as far in advance as possible.
d) All participating schools must ensure that their players at both 9v9 and 7v7 games are properly equipped. Shin pads are obligatory as are studded boots in wet weather. Players not having these items will not be allowed to play by referees. In addition all schools should have a properly inflated size 4 match ball on match days.

Saturday 29 June saw an exciting Magazine Cup final with Rosendale coming out on top against Paxton 2-1.
Infront of a large crowd of parents and friends the final was a hard fought game with Rosendale seeking to win the cup after finishing second in the League’s A Division. Paxton were the surprise team of the League returning to competition after a lengthy absence to win the C Division with an unbeaten playing record. Adriano Cilento of Rosendale broke the deadlock in the second half on a quick break after Paxton failed to convert a free kick outside the Rosendale penalty area. Cilento then added a second goal before Khai Lutfi of Paxton scored with 5 minutes to go to set up an exciting finale. Rosendale hung on to claim the Cup for the second time.

Judith Kerr clinched the girls B Division championship beating rivals Corpus Christi 3-0 at the Griffin on Saturday 29 June. Congratulations to Amanda Pitt and her team.

On 22 June Rosendale secured runners up spot in the A Division behind Belham by beating Corpus Christi 3-2 in a combined cup and league match. Congratulations to Kieron Campbell and Kelsey Rookwood the joint coaches and their Rosendale players.
On the same day Paxton took the C Division championship beating St. Luke's 4-0 to pip Globe who finished second. Congratulations to Ricky Deane and his Paxton team in their first season back in the League.
In the Fair Play Standings Hitherfield emerged as B Division Champions and Richard Atkins finished on top of the C Division. Both schools scored a maximum average score of 10 points out of 10 awarded after every game by our referees. Well done for such a great sporting achievement to both Lionel Best of Hitherfield and Tyrel Shefki Mustafa of Richard Atkins and their teams and parents who all enter the referees fair play calculations.
The Fair Play A Division final table has joint winners as both Belham and Rosendale also finished with a maximum average score of 10. Both schools had succesful seasons with Belham winning the A Division league title and Rosendale winning the Magazine Cup showing that ability and fair play are not mutually exclusive.

In the Girls A Division Hatcham today (15 June) beat St. Andrew's 2-1 to secure the championship to emulate their 9v9 players who by beating St. Mary's 2-0 also today won the 9v9 B Division championship with Lyndhurst as runners up.
Congratulations to Wayne Skillern and his two Hatcham sides, the girls in only their first season in the League. Plaudits also to Jim North and the Lyndhurst team which topped the 9v9 B Division most of the season.

9v9 cup and league fixtures are coming to an end as we reach the semi finals of the Magazine Cup and 4 games across the Divisions will decide the final league placings with Belham already the A Division champions.

A 7v7 girls game between Hatcham and Henry Cavendish took place on Saturday 25 May and on Saturday 15 June ko 12.45 Hatchem play St Andrew's which should decide the championship of the girls A Division. Watch this space.

Congratulations to Belham Primary in their first season in L&SPSF becoming champions of the 9v9 A Division. The results on 4 May mean they cannot be overtaken at the top of the table. Rosendale may equal them on points but as Belham won their head to head match they would still be champions.
Well done to Nathan Lewis and his team which played really skillful football as a team and individually and were consistently good through the season. They are also in the quarter finals of the Magazine Cup and will be seeking a cup and League double. They play St. Andrews, last season's double winners in the cup which should be a great game.

Following incidents of indiscipline involving Henry Fawcett players and parents at their 9v9 A Division game against Julian's on Saturday 9 March the Henry Fawcett Headteacher has withdrawn her 9v9 team from the league competition. It is expected that this team will however compete in the quarter finals of the Magazine Cup which will be played against Rosendale after Easter.
The Henry Fawcett results will be expunged from the A Division and the table adjusted accordingly.

L&SPSF and the coach of Holy Trinity have agreed that following the latest failure of the school to have enough players willing to turn out to fulfill a fixture that we will not arrange further games for them. We have agreed that if the school is confident in getting players and parents to attend matches we will consider including the team in future fixtures.
We previously moved Holy Trinity into the C Division to avoid further heavy defeats but the situation has not improved hence the above action.

Fair Play tables for the 9v9 divisions have been compiled and are on the website. See below for our Fair Play criteria. Referees give scores out of 10 after each game and award marks on the behaviour of players, coaches and spectators. Schools finishing on top of their Fair Play table will each receive end of season Fair Play awards.
L&SPSF is keen to stress that the fair play awards are not consolation prizes for weaker teams. All school teams should strive to win an award for fair play whether they are at the top, bottom or middle of their division. A further point is that judgement is not made solely on the players conduct. Coaches, relatives and supporters should be seen as representing the school concerned and judged accordingly.
FAIR PLAY CRITERIA
1. Respect for the league
* Did teams turn up on time?
* Were they ready to play at ko time?
* Did the manager/coach establish a positive relationship with opponents before, during and after the game?
2. Respect for the referee
* Were all decisions accepted in a good spirit?
* Was dissent shown by word or actions?
* Did coaches, parents and supporters openly criticise the referee in front of the players and during the game?
* Did the players set a good example eg by thanking the referee after the game and encouraging other players to shake hands?
3. Respect for team mates and opponents
* Did players encourage each other?
* Did they use foul, abusive or intimidatory language to each other or their opponents?
* Did they show disrespect for opponents by over celebrating or showing off when winning easily?
* Did they pick on weaker team mates or players making mistakes?
* Did they accept being substituted with good grace?
* Did they shake hands with opponents at the end of the game?
* Did they acknowledge good play of their team mates and opponents?

Haberdashers School is now known as Hatcham School. All fixtures, results and their division listing have been altered accordingly. The school contact and coach remains Wayne Skillern as listed on the "School Contacts" page.
Three divisions for league matches have now been compiled. Teams have been placed in A, B or C divisions following the early cup matches and reports from referees about ability levels. As always we attempt to group teams of similar playing ability to avoid as far as possible mismatches balanced against the need provide a reasonable number of games for all schools.

Camelot Primary has been renamed and is now officially Bird in Bush Primary after Bird in Bush Road where it is situated.
This season we welcome back Oliver Goldsmith Primary of Peckham, Paxton Primary of Norwood and the Ark Globe Academy from the Elephant and Castle.
All three schools previously participated in our football relatively recently and L&SPSF is pleased to welcome them back.

The 2022/23 season ended with a girls tournament on Saturday 8 July at Rosendale Playing Fields. This was organised by Matt and Stan of Julian’s who drummed up 6 girls teams to play each other with 4 schools playing semi finals and then a final. Julians beat Rosendale in the final with Henry Cavendish taking 3rd place from Richard Atkins. It was our first girls tournament and perhaps it will go on to become an annual event.
The 2023 Magazine Cup Final took place on Saturday 24 June at Rosendale Playing Fields in hot, dry conditions. The finalists were St. Andrew's of Streatham, the A Division champions and Julian's from West Norwood who finished third in that division. These are arguably the best two sides in the League and a great game of school football was delivered by both teams.
Miki Hirsig of Julian's opened the scoring and it was 1-0 to Julian's at half time. In the second half St Andrew's started to dominate and two quick goals from Dawid Kazek and Claudius Kapusta put them in front before a third goal from Marcel Gondek gave them a 3-1 advantage which they retained to win the final. The match was hard fought throughout with both sides competing intensely but in a sporting manner encouraged by both coaches.A large crowd of parents and friends also played their part in creating a sporting, lively atmosphere.
After the game Tim Redman the St Andrew's coach said that his team have had a fantastic season playing with lots of confidence and skill, starting with wins in the cup and then the league culminating with their first league title. He said he's a very proud coach of St. Andrew's in doing the cup and league double. He praised the Julian's team which competed from start to finish of the final and pushed his team all the way and thanked the league organisers for putting on both league and cup competitions. Stan Christoforou of Julian's said he is immensely proud of his team which has an excellent blend of attacking talent and defensive steel with the intelligence to carry out different game plans in a varienty of formations.
South London Schools FA and the Magazine Cup
The South London Schools FA (SLSFA) was founded in 1885 making it one of the oldest school football associations in the world. Lambeth & Southwark Primary Schools Football (LSPSF) is proud to be affiliated to such an historic football institution and to run the competition for the Magazine Cup on behalf of SLSFA.
The SLSFA runs representative district school teams from under 11 which is the L&SPSF age group up to under 19s. The bulk of the u11 team is provided by L&SPSF schools.
The Magazine Cup was inaugurated in 1925 by the SLSFA and was so named because the silver cup awarded to the winners was provided by a local sports magazine. The original silver trophy is still awarded to the winning school and is now held by St. Andrew's for the next year at least.

Congratulations to St. Andrew's of Streatham for winning the A Division and Loughborough of Loughborough Junction who took the B Division championship. Well done to Tim Redman of St Andrew's and Frank Agbontaen of Loughbrough.
Well done Corpus Christi of Brixton Hill which claimed runners up spot in the A Division and congratulations to Fenstanton which ended runners up in the B Division. Congratulations to Michael Brady who coached Corpus Christi to second place and Ricky Deane of Fenstanton the coach of the B Division runners up.
Congratulations to Lyndhurst school of Camberwell which secured the C Division Championship by winning their final game of the season by beating Wyvil school. Lyndhurst finished with an identical playing record to Camelot school of Peckham but end on top by virtue of the head to head record of the two schools as they beat Camelot in their earlier league meeting.
Congratulations to Jim North and his team and also to James Robinson of Camelot and his team as runners up.

On Monday 18 July the league was invited on to Radio5live drive programme at 5.45pm to discuss the issue of heading following the announcement by the FA that they are trialling a heading ban at under 12 with view to making it permanent for all ages from under 12 starting in season 2023/24.
The short piece, around 5 to 10 minutes can be heard on BBC sounds. Gary Cornforth the League coordinator was speaking on behalf of the league. Below is a short extract which was written up on BBC Sport.
"The Lambeth and Southwark Primary School Football League introduced a ban on heading last September.
Speaking on the same programme, the league's coordinator Gary Cornforth said: "Most kids try not to head the ball anyway so we thought let's go with it and maybe somebody will take notice and start thinking about not having heading generally, certainly in youth football.
"At our age group, you can have football without heading. The more adventurous coaches see it as a challenge, how to get their kids playing football on the ground. Players adapt."
Paul Edwards, director of clinical services at Dementia UK, said: "This decision from the FA is important as it shows an increased awareness of the damage that can be caused to the brain from prolonged heading of a football - especially in a young child or adult.
Saturday 2 July 2022 saw the B Division play off final between Woodmansterne of Streatham Vale and Crawford of Camberwell. The game finished 4-2 to Woodmansterne who finished top of the division proving just too strong for a Crawford side which put up a spirited second half performance after trailing 2-0 at half time.
Congratulations to Chris and Nathaniel and their Woodmansterne team who have had a consistent season playing good football throughout.
Commiserations to Greg and his Crawford side who came through the play offs to challenge for the title.

A play off decider was needed to separate Julian's and Camelot as both teams were unbeaten at the end of the regular season having only dropped points in their 1-1 draw in February.
The deciding game was played on Friday 10 June at Rosendale Playing Fields. Camelot took the lead but Julian's came back with two second half goals to win the match 2-1 and secure the Championship of the Girls League.
Congratulations to Matt Hayman and his team, unbeaten the whole season. Commiserations to Imran Ali and the the Camelot girls for a fine season losing only this one game.
Fenstanton secured the A Division Championship by beating Rosendale 4-3 in a tense, hard fought play decider at Rosendale Playing Fields on the 9th of June.
Fenstanton went into an early 2-0 lead but were pegged back by a spirited Rosendale side which took a 3-2 lead in the second half.
Two late Fenstanton goals ensured the win and decided the Championship. Congratulations to Ricky Deane and his team. Commiserations to Kieran Campbell and Kelsey Rookwood and the Rosendale Team.

When we start to have much wetter weather it is important that all players have appropriate footwear and clothing. Trainers and astro turf shoes are not appropriate footwear. Players without studded football boots will not be allowed to participate in games. In addition it is essential that for all games in all kinds of weather shin guards must be worn. Players without shin pads will not be able to play.
It is also important that all players have warm clothing to change into after games as matches played in the rain will mean players football kit will be soaked. The temperature will also become much lower in Autumn and Winter so warm, dry clothing is essential. This is especially relevant if players come to matches wearing their football kit. Warm clothing is also needed if players are spending time on the touchline as substitutes.

L&SPSF Committee Meeting 11 September 2020 - Minutes

1. Rosendale Playing Fields – Lambeth management and costs
· Lambeth Council are now taking a much more hands on approach re the playing fields and consequently are offering L&SPSF an annual licence for use of the football pitches at a cost of £5,300. A meeting with Lambeth officers is scheduled for 23 September to discuss this and what arrangements Lambeth will make to ensure the site and facilities comply with all Covid 19 guidelines and restrictions. We expect that pitches at Rosendale will be available to us in the next few weeks.
2. Covid 19
· Player safety, ball handling. The meeting agreed that from this season heading of the ball by all players is banned and that throw ins are replaced by “kick ins”. These measures aim to ensure that no player touches the ball with head or bare hands. These measures will also apply to pre-game warm ups and will also apply to spectators. Players heading the ball deliberately or accidently will be penalised by an uncontested drop ball given to the other team. If the offence occurs in the penalty area the drop ball will take place on the edge of the penalty area in line with the player who headed the ball. If a header prevents a goal a penalty will be given.
· Coaches must follow government and FA guidelines before, during and after games. L&SPSF expects that all coaches and or schools will ensure all training equipment is sanitised and footballs are sanitised during games as necessary. Players must have individual drink bottles suitably marked or otherwise identified.
· Spectators, social distancing. All spectators at Rosendale Playing Fields are to stand on the raised bank and L&SPSF and Lambeth Council will seek to provide marked areas to enable social distancing. Arrangements at other venues will need consideration to allow us to use them.
· Dressing Rooms and Toilets. There will be no access to changing rooms at any venues. Players must come to games wearing kit or be prepared to change outside. Toilets and hand washing facilities will be open as normal.
· Schools. All participating schools must agree to whatever Covid 19 restrictions are in place at all venues used by L&SPSF. This includes players, coaches and all spectators at games. All schools must seek individual parental or carer consent for each player at their school and confirm with L&SPSF that this is in place.
· Schools must provide to L&SPSF the name and telephone number of their designated Covid 19 officer to be notified in case/s of reports to L&SPSF of a confirmed or suspected case of Covid 19 attending a game at any venue used by L&SPSF.
· L&SPSF undertakes to update the “Coaches Charter” in line with current government and FA Covid 19 guidance.
3. Format of competition, dates and cost to schools
· Until such time as the number of schools taking part this season is known it is envisaged that fixtures will initially be arranged on an ad hoc friendly basis with a view to competitive games including the Magazine Cup being introduced after Christmas.
· Costs to schools has yet to be decided but will have to take into account the truncated nature of last season and for girls football the relative low number of games played. It was noted that a number of schools did not make any payment last season and Gary will carry out a cost reconciliation to inform prices for this season. It should be borne in mind that our costs will increase significantly following the imposition of an annual licence fee by Lambeth for the use of Rosendale Playing Fields.
4. Zoom AGM
· It was agreed that it is not feasible to hold an AGM online using IT and the decisions of the Committee meeting will be applied until such time as an AGM may be held.
5. AOB
· Dates for notification of interest for schools and first games. Schools wishing to take part in 9v9 and or 7v7 football must inform Gary before the half term break. Football will begin as soon as possible after pitches are marked out and compliance with all aspects of Covid 19 guidance are deemed met by individual schools.

GIRLS FOOTBALL - Streatham Wells/St.Stephen's and Corpus Christi teams with their medals. They shared runners up spot in the 2018/19 Girls Green Division. With coaches Michael McGowan and Michael Brady respectively.
Henry Cavendish secured the Girls Green Division Championship on Saturday 29 June without playing. Streatham Wells/St Stephen's being held to a draw by St Mary's means Henry Cavendish can't be caught and their League title is confirmed. Streatham Wells/St Stephen's and Corpus Christi finish as runners up after agreeing to share the points on Saturday 6 July. L&SPSF agreed to both schools sharing runners up spot as due to a combination of circumstances a League match between them could not be played. In addition it has proved impossible to play the last Corpus Christi match as St Mary's cannot get a team out. As either school could have finished as runners up given the right circumstances and due to player absences they played a non competitive friendly.
Congratulations to Dan and Rhydian Persaud for adding the girls 7v7 championship to their retention of the mixed 7 a side Walcot Cup and their finishing the 9v9 season with a perfect Fair Play average score of 10 to win the school another award for the trophy cabinet.
Also another good season for Michael McGowan and the girls of Streatham Wells/St Stephen's, only narrowly failing to register a third consecutive League title. Well done in addition to Michael Brady and the Corpus Christi girls who after a slow start to the season finished with a flurry of games to share second spot by mutual agreement.

2019 Magazine Cup Final - Rosendale 2 v 1 Goose Green
South London Schools FA and the Magazine Cup
The South London Schools FA (SLSFA) was founded in 1885 making it one of the oldest school football associations in the world. Lambeth & Southwark Primary Schools Football (LSPSF) is proud to be affiliated to such an historic football institution and to run the competition for the Magazine Cup on behalf of SLSFA.
The SLSFA runs representative district school teams from under 11 which is the L&SPSF age group up to under 19s. The bulk of the u11 team is provided by L&SPSF schools.
The Magazine Cup was inaugurated in 1925 by the SLSFA and was so named because the silver cup awarded to the winners was provided by a local sports magazine. The original silver trophy is still awarded to the winning school and is now held by Rosendale Primary of Herne Hill who beat Goose Green Primary of East Dulwich in the 2018/19 final held on Saturday 22 June 2019.
The two teams from the A Division of Lambeth & Southwark Primary Schools Football League played out a highly competitive final at Rosendale Playing Fields in SE21 at the end of their season which started in late September. Rosendale took the lead in a first half of few chances through O’rian Reid. Goose Green equalised midway through the second half thanks to their star striker David Angibeaud Montjen. With extra time looming Rosendale snatched victory with a late goal from Sherae Harris-Martin.
Rosendale then withstood a spirited comeback from Goose Green in the last 7 minutes striving to equalise and force extra time. Rosendale did not concede again and added the Magazine Cup for the first time in 35 years to their 5 League championships from the last 7 seasons. Coach Bobby Reynolds praised Goose Green for their part in a “truly pulsating cup final that could have gone either way…..” He also gave his team “massive congratulations for winning the league and cup and being unbeaten all season and praised Gary Cornforth and the League for another smooth-running season.”
Goose Green emerged as a strong team promoted last season from a lower division in only their third season in the League.
Aaron Paxton the coach of Goose Green said “A fantastic end to a tough season, we gave absolutely everything in the final and couldn’t have done anymore, I couldn’t be any prouder. Congratulations to Rosendale they deserved to win the league and cup, a great team with fantastic individuals. We say goodbye to a lot of players this year and we wish them all the best in the future. Thanks to everyone involved with the League and thank you to all the parents and teachers who have supported us this year.”
Dan Doyle of South London Schools FA presented the players with medals and Rosendale with the cup after the game and praised both teams and their coaches for the skills on display and the tenacity of all the players in competing till the last seconds.
20 primary schools from Lambeth and Southwark competed for 3 trophies. The Walcot Cup, The Newcomen Collett Shield and the St Olave’s and St Saviour’s Plate.
After playing mini league games in the morning all 20 teams went into the knock out competitions in the afternoon.
On a pleasant sunny day at the beautiful Dulwich Sports Ground the main competition for the Walcot Cup was won by Henry Cavendish School of Balham and Streatham. They came through penalty shoot outs in the quarter and semi finals and triumphed in the final after a third penalty shoot out to beat Julian’s of West Norwood and Streatham.

No score at half time. Just into the second half a goal from Max Hewson of Julian’s, followed by a great save from their keeper Charlie Prior, to keep their lead.
Henry Cavendish equalised thanks to Shiloh McLeod which was set up by Zack Brown just before the final whistle.
After extra time with the sore still 1-1 penalties ensued with nothing separating the teams until Kylon Phillip-Cole saved Julian’s fifth penalty to win the Walcot Cup for the second year running after having won in 2018.
Great credit to both school teams for their performances throughout the day with Julian’s also having to navigate a penalty shoot out in an earlier knock out round. Both goalkeepers, Kylon Phillip-Cole for Henry Cavendish and Charlie Prior of Julian’s had great tournaments making saves throughout the day and in the penalty shoot outs.
Brothers and Henry Cavendish team coaches Dan and Rhydian Persad praised their team for their individual skill and teamwork but also their courage in coming through three consecutive penalty shoot outs. They also deserve great praise in having come top of the Fair Play League in the A Division of the regular 9 side League season which has just finished. Fair Play awards are based on scores given by referees after every game out of 10 with Henry Cavendish getting a magnificent season long average score of 10 for the sporting behaviour of their players, coaches and supporters.
Julian’s coach Matt Hayman said his team although very disappointed to lose in the final on penalties gained great satisfaction in getting to the final and beating teams along the way which had narrowly beat them in 9 a side League games earlier in the season.

Sunnyhill 3 v 3 Elm Wood (aet)
Sunnyhill of Streatham and Elm Wood of West Norwood were very evenly matched throughout the game.
Sunnyhill’s Zico Blake opened the scoring, followed by an equaliser from Elm Wood’s Donte Martin
2 goals again in the second half, the first by Elm Wood’s Samuel Costa with the equaliser from Sunnyhill’s Zico Blake
Into extra time with a goal from Sunnyhill, followed by another from Elm Wood following a quickly taken free kick to equalise at 3-3 and take us into penalties which Sunnyhill won 3-2.
Both school’s deserve praise for battling through to the final of the Shield competition after a tough season in the A Division of the 9 a side schools League.
The St Olave’s and St Saviour’s Plate
St Joseph’s 2 v 4 Hitherfield
Hitherfield took the lead but the equaliser soon followed with a header from a corner, by St Joseph’s Ola Meldad. Hitherfield fought back with a further 3 goals from Ernie Summers, with St Joseph’s Freddie scoring their second towards the end of the game.
Another keenly contested final from both schools with St Joseph’s having won the D Division of the regular 9 a side season. Both schools deserve praise for in addition to getting to a 7 a side final they both carried off Fair Play awards for the conduct of their players, coaches and supporters throughout the season. St Joseph’s scoring a wonderful 10 out of 10 over the course of the season and Hitherfield 9.8.
David Dines of St Joseph’s and Abby Whitten and Lionel Best of Hitherfield should be highly commended for the great examples they set for Fair Play and the high standards they expect from their players and parents.
The finalists were presented with the school trophies and individual medals by Councillor Ibrahim Dogus as Mayor of the London Borough of Lambeth for the municipal year 2019/20.
The day long tournament is run on an annual basis by volunteers and would not be possible without the long standing financial support of the Newcomen Collett Foundation and the St Olave’s and St Saviour’s Schools Foundation for which the organisers remain extremely grateful.

Congratulations to Steven Fraser and the Loughborough team. They secured the runners up position in the A Division. They finished level on points with Francesca Cabrini but are placed above them by virtue of winning the head to head fixture earlier in the season.
St Joseph's secured the D Division title by virtue of Kings Avenue and Oliver Goldsmith playing out a 1-1 draw on Saturday 18 May. St Joseph's can now no longer be caught at the top of the table by either of these schools so congratulations to David Dines and his players.
Following the top spot in the D Division going to St Joseph's the runners up position was settled on Wednesday 22 May when Oliver Goldsmith beat Macaulay 4-2 to finish the season on 15 points alongside Kings Avenue also on 15 points. As the head to head game between these two schools was a draw they will both receive medals for their players.
Congratualtions to both schools and to coaches Kevin Park for Kings Avenue and Phil Johnson of Oliver Goldsmith with the assistance of Mark Parsons and headteacher Julia Conn who oversaw the final three Oliver Goldsmith games in Phil's absence.
The A Division title went to Rosendale A without them playing when on Saturday 11 May Loughborough beat Francesca Cabrini to move into second place. This win also denied Cabrini any chance to pip Rosendale to the title by winning their final game against Rosendale. The runners up spot will be decided by the Cabrini v Rosendale final A Division match. If Cabrini win or draw they take runners up spot. If they lose Loughborough who have completed their fixtures take second spot. Congratulations Rob Reynolds and his Rosendale side who are also in the final of the Magazine Cup waiting to find out who they will be playing.
The C Division runners up position went to Crawford following their win against Vauxhall Wyvil. Well done to Greg Perkins and his Crawford team who ran Woodmansterne close before finally ending up 1 point behind the Streatham school.
Congratulations to Kenrick Dwyer and Immanuel school. On Saturday 4 May they secured the Championship of the B Division by beating Clapham Manor. They now have 15 points, played 9 won 6, drawn 1, lost 1. Second spot goes to Hill Mead having finished on 11 points level on points with Richard Atkins above whom they are placed by virtue of winning the head to head fixture. Congratulations to the Hill Mead team and coach Victor Odeyemi and Headteacher Richard West.
Well done Julian's girls team for securing the championship of the Blue Division with one game to play. Camelot girls beating Clapham Manor girls on Saturday 6 April means Julian's cannot be caught at the top of the division having won five out of five games. They will play their remaining match v Clapham Manor after Easter.
Camelot have completed their fixtures and claim runners spot as even if Clapham Manor equal Camelot's nine points the head to head record between the two goes to Camelot.
Congratulations to Matt Hayman the Julian's team coach and the girls. Plaudits also to James Robinson the Camelot Headteacher and Imran Ali the girls team coach for finishing as runners up.
Julian's girls team are also to be the mascots for Crystal Palace Ladies team at their game on 27 April and they received a visit at the school's training session from the Crystal Palace goalkeeper Lauren Allen. See photo below.

Congratulation to Chris Awodele and Nathaniel Dorsett and the Woodmansterne 9v9 team for securing the C Division title against Judith Kerr, winning 7-0. They have now finished their league fixtures with a points total of 16, played 9, won 7, drawn 2 and lost 0. Runners up spot in this division is between Crawford on 13 points with one game to play and St Andrew's on 9 with three games to play.
The annual 7 a side tournament which this year will be our 23rd will take place on Sunday 9 June at the usual venue, Dulwich Sports Ground.
All schools will be invited to particiate but as always we can only accommodate 20 teams which means it's the first 20 schools to apply and pay the entry fee which will be playing. Invitations will be sent out shortly. Watch this space.

Above photo is the Julian's 7 a side team which represented South London Schools FA in the Inner London Schools FA district 7 a side competition on Saturday 12 January. The team finished 3rd beating Lewisham the eventual competition winners in the group stage.
Following a proposal put forward in the summer by the coach of one of our schools the idea of a "Coach's Charter" was discussed at the AGM and it was agreed that all coaches and team managers involved with a school team will sign a charter to be drawn up along the lines of that which was circulated at the AGM.
The updated draft has now been circulated to all participating schools to be signed and returned to the League. The final version of the Charter can be seen below.
The 2017/18 season AGM took place on Wednesday 19 September at the usual venue of the Bread and Roses PH in Clapham.

St John's & St Clement's of East Dulwich claimed the historic Magazine Cup beating Vauxhall Wyvil of Vauxhall 3-2 at Rosendale Playing Fields on Saturday 7 July.
In very hot weather on a bone dry pitch the game was intensely competitive throughout with St Johns establishing early dominance to take a 2 goal lead through Shadrach Ertl, getting his 15th goal of the season and then Prince Worgs. Vauxhall Wyvil came back strongly in the latter stages of the game to pull a goal back through Rodrigo Oliveira direct from a corner and after exerting increasing pressure on the St John’s goal Javon Carr scored a late equaliser following confusion between St John’s keeper Noah Reed and his defenders. Just as the large number of spectators thought the final was going into extra time the referee Aeon Channer awarded a penalty to St John’s adjudging that the Vauxhall goalkeeper Rui Felipe Barbosa brought down Shadrach Ertl as he chased a through ball. In stoppage time Moses Sesay calmly scored his 34th goal of the season from the spot to secure the Cup for the East Dulwich school 3-2.
Nathan Lewis the St John’s coach said after the game, “I’m very happy with the team’s performance this year, winning the Magazine Cup, reaching the 7 a side Walcot Cup Final and winning our division this season. I feel the boys showed great maturity beyond their years with solid performances through the season. Also the spirit and desire has been exceptional. Moses Sesay with 34 goals this season has been immense, also captain Rohan Boutall and Noah Reed have been outstanding for us. A special mention to goal scorers, Prince Worgs and Shadrach Ertl, year 3 and 4 respectively. I’ve had an amazing time coaching this team, they’ve never let me down and it’s been a blessing to be part of the Lambeth & Southwark Primary Schools League.”
Kevin Taylor, coach of Vauxhall Wyvil commented: “Well done to the squad for a terrific season, winning our division and only losing 2 games all season. Must also mention Ayomide Ayeni and Joshua Hama-Douglas for their consistent attendance throughout the entire season, not missing a single game.”
Fenstanton Primary of Tulse Hill secured runners up spot in the D Division with a 1-0 victory over Oliver Goldsmith on Tuesday 3 July. The Peckham school made Fenstanton work hard for the win and resisted until midway through the second half when Fenstanton scored the goal that won the game.
Congratulations to Ricky Deane and the Fenstanton team. They now face a semi final in the Magazine Cup against St John's & St Clement's of East Dulwich. The winners go on to play Vauxhall Wyvil on Saturday 7 July in the final.

This season has been remarkable for "Fair Play" in that 6 school teams have achieved the fantastic average score from start to end of the 2017/18 season of a maximum of 10. Considering that the fair play scores are awarded by referees after every game that says a lot about those schools.
That means that for every game they played throughout the season our referees, who are impartial with no ties to any school considered that the behaviour of players, coaches and spectators from those schools was exemplary whether winning or losing.
Plaudits go to Hitherfield, (Abby Whitten and Lionel Best), Henry Cavendish, (Dan and Rhydian Persad), Heathbrook, (Carl Gibbs and Grant Cook), Judith Kerr, (Thmas Brandi and Amanda Pitt), Oliver Goldsmith, (Phil Johnson) and St Joseph's, (David Dines).
Not far behind with high 9+ scores were: Clapham Manor, (Marcus Ekeh). St Mary's, (Matt Griffin, Dan Rodger and Alex Elgey, St John & St Clement, (Nathan Lewis) and Camelot, (Luke Naughton and James Robinson).
Hearty congratulations to the above schools and all involved with their football teams who showed that winning or losing, sporting behaviour is possible in all things. Trophies for the schools and FIFA Fair Play certificates for the players are on their way.

The Walcot Cup was won by Henry Cavendish of Balham. They beat St John's & St Clement's of East Dulwich 3-1 in the final.
The Newcomen Collett Shield was won by St Mary's of Clapahm who beat Streatham Wells & St Stephen's of Streatham and Vauxhall respectively 4-0 in their final.
The St Olave's & St Saviour's Plate was secured by Richard Atkins of Clapham Park beating Oliver Goldsmith of Peckham 4-1 in the final.

The Girls League Championships were decided on Saturday 19 May.
The Green Division champions following their 2-1 win over closest rivals Rosendale are for the second season in a row Streatham Wells & St Stephen's. With one game to play they are a point ahead of Rosendale who have completed their fixtures and finish as runners up.
Congratulations once again to Michael McGowan and his players for another succesful season. Plaudits also go to Rob Reynolds for taking over the Rosendale girls team for the final 3 games and giving the eventual champions their closest match in two seasons.

In the Blue Division St Andrew's triumphed in their first season in girls football pipping Immanuel and St Andrew's to top spot after beating them 2-1 in Immanuel's final match of the season. Immanuel finished as runners up.
Well done to Patrick Parr and Tim Redman and the players of St Andrew's in their inaugral girls football season. Congratulations also go to Kenrick Dwyer and the girls of Immanuel with their only defeat of the season coming against the champions.

Despite losing all 9v9 and girls football at Dulwich Sports Ground and all 9v9 matches at Alleyn's following the groundsman's Saturday morning inspection we managed to play 3 games at Rosendale Playing Fields despite atrocious conditions. Snow covered the wet pitches but after clearing the lines play went on. See photo above.
A massive thumbs up to the players, coaches and not least the parents shivering on the touchlines. Well done to Goose Green, St. Bernadette's, Telferscot, Kings Avenue, Judith Kerr and St Joseph's for playing through the snow and mud.

The district teams offer a higher standard of football and for any exceptional players the chance to play for the County, Inner London Schools FA. There are a small number of district games over the course of the season on Saturday mornings and evenings in the Spring. Any players selected for the district will also be able to play for their school team as school fixtures are usually arranged to accommodate district games. If any schools have exceptional players who did not attend trials they should contact Steve Underwood to inform him of potential district player/s.

The 2016/17 season Magazine Cup final was played on Sunday 2 July at Rosendale Playing Fields between St. Francesca Cabrini of Honor Oak and Rosendale of Herne Hill. Due to various school committments it was decided to play the semi finals on Saturday 1 July and the final on Sunday 2 July. In the semis Cabrini swept aside the B Division champions Allen Edwards 5-1 and Rosendale edged a close contest against Loughborough 2-1.
The final ended 4-1 to Cabrini with the A Division champions proving to be too strong on the day for Rosendale the A Division joint runners up. Goals in the first half from Donnell McNeilly and Filippo Lucinano followed by second half goals from Donnell again and Enrique Aspinall wrapped the game up before O'Rian scored a late consolation for Rosendale from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the box.
Cabrini finished the season strongly pipping Sunnyhill and Rosendale to the League title and completing the Cup and League double in style against a Rosendale team hoping to secure the Magazine Cup for the first time after winning the league title 3 years running from 2012/13. Michael Brady's Cabrini side went one better than last season when they shared the Cup with St Johns & St Clements of East Dulwich after a 2-2 aet draw.
Michael was ably supported throughout the season by his assistant coach Luke Humpage and singled out his captain and goal scoring phenomenom Donnell McNeilly who hit the net over 60 times for school and club this season. The Cabrini side were also indebted to a superb season from central defenfer Filipo Lucignano assisted by SIdney Emovan and David Lokangaka in defence and the excellent Midfielder Enrique Aspinall.
Many of the cup final players from both teams now move on to secondary school but both Francesca Cabrini and Rosendale schools will no doubt be competing for honours next season in primary schools football.
First and second places in all three division have now been settled following games on 23 and 24 June.
On Friday 23 June St Francesca Cabrini secured the championship of the A Division with a 2-1 win against Sunnyhill the only team which could have prevented them winning the League. The Streatham school needed to win to pip Cabrini to the title but in a very close game the team from Honor Oak held on for victory and the championship despite a late Sunnyhill goal and some desperate final attempts at an equaliser.
Michael Brady and his assistant Luke Humpage secured the League title for St Francesca Cabrini for the first time since 2010/11. They now go on to a Magazine Cup semi final next week hoping to get into the final for the second year running after sharing the historic Magazine Cup last season with St Johns & St Clements.
Wayne Skillern and his Sunnyhill side in only their second season in the top division very nearly pulled off a stunning double following their winning of the 7 a side Walcot Cup on 11 June. Runners up spot caps a great season for the Streatham school team.
Mention should also go to Rob Reynolds anfd his Rosendale A team which share runners up spot with Sunnyhill as they have an identical won, drawn and lost playing record (the League does not use goal difference). Rob and his teams were league champions for 3 seasons running from 2012/13 and runners up last season.
On Saturday 24 June in the B Division an exciting and tense game ended up 2-1 to Allen Edwards of Stockwell against Immanuel and St Andrews of Streatham. This result enabled the Stockwell side to gain points parity with their Streatham rivals. As we do not use goal difference the head to head result between the teams meant that Allen Edwards finished as champions and Immanuel had to settle for runners up spot despite doing their utmost to get an equaliser which would have been enough to secure 1st place. Congratulations to Mark Kelly and his Allen Edwards team and also to Kenrick Dwyer and the Immanuel players as runners up.
The final runner up spot went to Henry Cavendish of Balham who retained second place in the C Division as Telferscot who could have overtaken them lost their final game 0-2 to Herbert Morrison. Well done to Dan and Rhydian Persad and their team for ending the season on a high. Streatham Wells having secured the C Division title some weeks ago. Congratulations are also in order for Dan and Rhydian and their team and parents as Henry Cavendish took the top "Fair Play" award for the C Division finishing with an average fair play score awarded by referees over the course of the season of 9.75 out of 10.

Our "Fair Play" season has ended with six schools winning trophies and certificates for the players. The winners are as follows:
C Division
1st Henry Cavendish 9.75 season average out of 10
2nd St Leonard's 9.58 season average out of 10
B Division
1st Hitherfield 9.83 season average out of 10
2nd St Joseph's 9.75 season average out of 10
A Division
Joint winners - Hill Mead and Clapham Manor 9.7 season average out of of 10
The vast majority of schools all scored 9 or more over the course of the season with only 4 schools not reaching 9. Even these teams averaged 8.8 or more so we experienced a very satisfactory "Fair Play" season overall.

The 21st annual Lambeth & Southwark Primary Schools Football 7 a side tournament took place on Sunday 11 June at Dulwich Sports Ground. In pleasant sunny conditions on near perfect pitches twenty schools competed from 10am through to the finals in the afternoon. They played for the Walcot Cup which was contested by the top two teams in each morning mini league. The Newcomen Collett Shield was for the teams finishing 3rd and 4th in their groups and the St Olave and St Saviours Plate was played for by the 5th placed schools.
Crawford from Camberwell and Telferscot of Balham reached the final of the Plate competition with Crawford coming out on top thanks to two goals from Sahr Menjor against one goal from Felix Bowen of Telferscot.
The Shield went to Richard Atkins of Clapham Park who overcame Streatham Wells of Streatham Hill 2-0 in the final with two goals from Alamamy Taylor-Kamara.
The Walcot Cup, the premier competition of the day was contested in the final by Sunnyhill of Streatham against Loughborough from Loughborough Junction. This keenly fought culmination of the day's play was settled by a well taken goal from Seth Banth of Sunnyhill which was the only goal of the game.
Players from all twenty participating schools went home with a souvenir t shirt and memories of a great community event enjoyed by players, parents, teachers, coaches and organisers. The players from the schools that reached the six knock out competition finals were presented with cup final medals by the Mayor of Lambeth, Councillor Marcia Cameron. Councillor Cameron also presented special Lambeth Council enamel lapel badges to the tournament organisers and teachers and coaches as recognition of their efforts on behalf of all the local schools.
The organisers would like to thank the Newcomen Collett Foundation and the St Olave's and St Saviour's Foundation Trust for their generous and longstanding financial support for the tournament without which the event would not take place. Thanks is also expressed to the teachers and coaches of the participating schools and especially to the volunteer organisers for giving up their time to run the event on the day.

Congratulations to Michael McGowan for a double success in winning our inaugural Girls League and now securing the championship of the C Division. Streatham Wells 9 a side team secured the League title with two games to spare. They have one League match left having won 10 and drawn 1so far. The Stretham Wells side are also through to the second round of the Magazine Cup.
Michael's Streatham Wells and St Stephen's combined girls 7 a side team also won the Girls League having a 100% record. Played seven won seven. Convincing winners of our first ever girls only competition.
Streatham Wells returned to the 9 a side League this season after not taking part in 2015/16. Congratulations to Michael and both his teams and players. Mention should also go to Bob Wade the Deputy Head of Streatham Wells and long time supporter of the League and schools football.

The Heal project was started in 1999 by Jeannie Mulenga an HIV Aids sufferer with the help of Dr Helen Ayles of the Tropical Diseases Hospital, London. Jeannie received treatment from Dr Ayles after her husband died from AIDS and she was living with her 3 children on the streets of Lusaka. When her health improved Jeannie started a small business with Dr Ayles help. From this Jeannie and Dr Ayles have developed the project into a school, orphanage, workshops and community centre. 350 children attend the school, women from the local community learn skills such as needlework and cookery and the children study and get the chance to play sports such as netball and football.
Jack Cornforth a former Sudbourne pupil and footballer helped at the project in 2010 and came back saying how welcome he was made and how grateful they all were for any help offered. He took out some football kit and they were so pleased as it is very difficult for them to buy "luxury" items such as sports goods. As you can see from the picture all the children play football with bare feet as football boots are simply unaffordable for them.
The project is a registered charity in the UK and every pound raised in the UK is sent to Zambia - there are no administrative costs. Financial support is much needed to maintain and improve their facilities, pay teachers at the school and to provide basics such as text and exercise books, pencils, games equipment, even beakers and plates.
We will be thinking of fundraising initiatives but in the meantime cheques payable to the HEAL Project can be sent to Gary c/o the league. Lambeth & Southwark Primary Schools Football hopes that all our schools would like to contribute to helping this marvellous project.
Here in the UK we take most things for granted but the children and women being helped by the Heal Project in Lusaka have so little but are cheerful and uncomplaining. If any schools would like to set up links with the project please get in touch with Gary.
On Saturday 22 November 2015 the South London Schools FA u11 team travelled to the Douglas Eyre Sports Centre in Walthamstow and after 20 years of trying they won the Inner London County 7 a side competition.
They were drawn in a league group with Islington, Hackney and Tower Hamlets and won all three group matches. This qualified them for a semi-final against last year’s winners Lewisham. In this close match they won 1-0 which meant they had to contest the final against Wandsworth. They were the other team that had won all their games.
In the first half of the final Wandsworth scored first. This did not discourage South London with their defence marshalled superbly by Ethan Sutcliffe of Telferscot and with Brian Gazon from St Bernadette controlling midfield. They equalized with a goal from Kai Neil-Gray of Oakfield and won the game and the competition with a great solo goal from substitute Mikael Tesfamichael of St Francesca Cabrini.
South London goal scorers on the day were: Kai Neil-Gray 4, Brian Gazon 3, Jaevon Dyer 1 (Allen Edwards), Mikel Tesfamichael 1.
This National English Schools competition is sponsored by DANONE. The winners of the competition take part in World Cup finals. Lewisham last year’s national winners went to Brazil to represent England. South London now progress to the South East England regional round.
Congratulations to Steve Underwood the Secretary of the Association and manager of the u11 representative side and Shuhal Ahmed the team coach. Well done also to the players of which all bar 2 play in the Lambeth and Southwark Primary Schools League.
